History: GOF 88L was first registered on 2nd February 1973, six months before the eventual release of the model for general sale, and was supplied to Birmingham Police for evaluation. During the car’s time with the service, it was fitted out with the triangular roof sign, two-tone siren, radio and other police equipment. It spent time with Sussex, Staffordshire, Thames Valley and West Mercia forces, but although Police Review said that "It is so perfect for Police work that it could have been designed specifically for the job", only three were actually used, with Thames Valley Constabulary. The car was decommissioned in September and sold. The previous owner to me collected the roof sign, Police radio and other equipment, much of which came from an ex-police officer.
