The Chairman's Run - Sunday 28th September 2008
Each time there is a road run from the Abingdon-on-Thames area, this year we used the popular starting point of the Abingdon Market Place. On what had started as a very misty morning, 30+ M.G.s spanning 70 years of MG production set off late morning for a 33 mile run to Woodley just east of Reading, a day which ended in brilliant sunshine.

Abingdon Air & Country Fayre - 30th April 2006
With the decision to rest the Works Car Show for 2006, it was felt a good time to join forces with the organisers of the 6th Abingdon Air & Country Fayre being held on Dalton Barracks in Abingdon at the end of April. The event, in aid of Douglas House & Helen House Respite Centres in Oxford, is held on the old Abingdon Airfield on the Sunday of the early May Bank Holiday and has gathered momentum over the years attracting over 9000 visitors in 2005.

St. George's Day Run - 23rd April 2006
The event, organised by Centre members Dave Smith & John Watson, and prompted by the call for drivers of all classic cars to take to the road on St George’s Day, had clearly been enthusiastically greeted judging by the number and variety of cars arriving in the Market Square. As well as a 70-year range of MGs from a VA to a ZS, the 50 plus cars were compiled from a variety of Morris Minors, Minis, an elderly Austin and a grand old Rolls Royce.

The Chairman's Run to Hook Norton Brewery - 2nd October 2005
To round off the 3 years I have spent Chairing the AWC committee I decided to organise a run with a difference to be enjoyed by a few like minded souls. The Phoenix Informal Gathering - 12th August 2005
A firm summer favourite for a number of years now, this gathering at a famous motoring pub sees the front car park closed to all unless the vehicle wears the octagonal badge. What other local do can regularly have cars from pre Abingdon days to the last days at Longbridge with everything in between. Well nearly so, because last year we were short of SVWs and modern Midgets. Let's try to get a complete range this year. Just turn up at the pub on the outskirts of Hartley Wintney on the A30 towards Hook from about 20.00 hrs and enjoy the company.

The Summer Day Out - 19th June 2005
I am writing these notes on the humid and heavy summers evening which followed the annual AWC Summer Day Out. As usual the organisers arranged for excellent weather it was hot enough to consider putting the roof up! Over 200 cars and twice as many occupants attended this event at Highclere Castle enjoying the best of a British summer and a typically British venue. No doubt more of the same next year but if you know of a venue we have not used which you think might be suitable for this sort of event why not let us know.

13th Old Speckled Hen Tour - 29th May 2005
Boldly billed as the thirteenth event there was a certain amount of trepidation among the organisers that at the very least it would be a wash out thanks to the day to day contradictions of this summer. From the dawning of the day with the wind from the previous night silent at last it was clear that this had the makings of a very memorable Hen Run for all the right reasons...
