The car left the Abingdon Factory on 15th October 1968 and went to Jersey, Channel Islands, where it spent six years doing only 40mph!

On the 24 April 1974 it was registered with DVLA in England with the registration mark 6201 MG. It had two owners on the south coast, followed by three owners in the London area.

Mr D Gibson bought it in November 1998. He decided to sell the registration number to fund the car’s restoration and, when this was finished, he re-registered the car in Abingdon in the hope of getting a local plate.

It is now registered as ABW 228G (Abingdon Works Plate?). I bought it from him at Silverstone MG Show in 2005.

The car feels much more refined than my old MGB GT. I decided to revamp the interior and added burr walnut. There are only two non-standard items on the car, Magnatec ignition and a rear LED brake light .Based on what I payed for the car it has more than doubled in value! 20-25mpg, but what the hell!
