July 2017 – 1961 MGA MkII Coupe

History

Built as a right hand drive car and first registered in Wiltshire on 1/1/62, Amy has been carefully renovated to her original state, with ‘mini’ rear lights and the correct MkII grille. When purchased, Amy already featured deluxe seats and replica Dunlop centre lock alloy wheels. The correct 1622 head was sourced from Peter Burgess and mated with the original 1622cc block, replacing an 18V stage 2 MGB head.

Amy was treated to a bare metal respray as part of the renovation project, but proved to be remarkably corrosion free, due to a rebuild in 1979 by Brown and Gammons and copious Dinitrol application. Various interior trim details have yet to be sorted out, but Amy is up and running and will be seen on MGA Register and related MGCC events. We are only the fourth owners!
