March 2017 – 1966 MGB Roadster
I purchased the car from Maidstone Sports cars in 2001. I am the 6th owner since new and at one time in its life was owned by Nigel Mansell’s brother. The car was originally produced in China Blue paintwork (see old photo) but its 4th owner, following a bare metal respray, changed the colour to Tartan Red in 1990.
The car is used for club outings and general use on fine sunny days although last year it ventured to the Ardennes in Belgium and in 2017 it is off to the south coast of Brittany. Based on the collection of invoices and MOT certificates that came with the car, it has covered about 235,000 miles since new. It has its original body although I am sure many parts have been refurbished or replaced over the years.

t the time of purchasing the car in 2001, it was agreed that the car would feature in an article in the Classic and Sports Car Magazine about the venerable ‘B’ and the demise of Abingdon. This appeared in the September 2001 edition of the magazine (see photo of magazine front cover).
